Board of Adjustment
The Jackson County Board of Adjustment is made up of members appointed by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors. Board members serve five-year terms.
The Board of Adjustment is responsible for hearing and deciding certain zoning-related requests, including:
Administrative Appeals
The Board hears appeals when it is alleged that there has been an error in an order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Administrator in enforcing the zoning ordinance.
Conditional Uses / Special Exceptions
The Board reviews requests for conditional uses or special exceptions where authorized by the Zoning Ordinance. The Board may approve a request, approve it with reasonable conditions and safeguards, or deny it based on the applicable ordinance standards.
Variances
The Board may grant relief from certain requirements of the Zoning Ordinance when the request meets the applicable legal standards. Each variance is considered individually and may be approved only when the required findings are met.
