The Jackson County Board of Adjustment consists of members appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Board members are appointed to five-year terms. Their main duties are for:
- Administrative Review, which is to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Administrative Officer in the enforcement of this ordinance.
- Special Exceptions, to hear and determine whether special exceptions should be granted; and to grant special exceptions with such conditions and safeguards as are appropriate, and to deny special exceptions when not in harmony with the purpose and intent of the zoning ordinance.
- Variances, to authorize a variance from the terms of the zoning ordinance as that will not be contrary to the public interest and where there are special conditions that a literal enforcement of the provisions of this ordinance would result in unnecessary hardship.
