Steps to Obtain a Septic Permit
- Contact a qualified soil evaluator to schedule a soil evaluation of your property.
- Once you receive your completed soil evaluation report, complete the Jackson County Septic Permit Application and upload the soil evaluation report.
- Select a Jackson County registered septic installer (listed within the application).
- Submit payment of the required permit fee.
- Jackson County Environmental Health will review your application and supporting documentation for compliance with applicable state and local requirements.

Soil Evaluators
Applicants are responsible for obtaining a soil evaluation from a qualified soil evaluator.

Additional Information
Additional information or an engineered system design may be required depending on site conditions and the proposed wastewater treatment system.
Existing Septic Systems
Read our policy and procedures for connecting an existing septic system to a new dwelling. Please note that when using an existing system, you must still apply for a permit and have a Time of Transfer Inspection.
Registers Installers
A list of Registered Installers can be found in your GeoPermits Septic Permit Application. Installers shall have a current CIOWTS Certfincation and hold a current septic installer registration with the county.
