Roadside Program
Jackson County’s Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management (IRVM) program is structured to maintain safe, functional, and ecologically diverse roadsides along our secondary road system. By utilizing a combination of mowing, targeted brush control, and where feasible the establishment of hardy native prairie species, we aim to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, and create essential habitats for pollinators and wildlife.
Landowners & Residents who wish to personally manage the vegetation adjacent to their property may submit a No-Spray Request to be placed on our annual list, ensuring that roadside teams bypass those specific areas during routine maintenance.
Landowners who wish to convert and help maintain Prairie along roadsides please contact Jackson County Conservation at 563-653-3783.
