Memorial Park Information
Dedicated to all military, with special recognition to all service personnel, living and deceased, active or retired, from Jackson County, IA. We honor those who gave of themselves to guard our country and preserve our freedom.
Jackson County Veterans Memorial Park stands on property donated, in 2023, by Robert Johnson, in honor of his nephew, Staff Sgt. Donald Griffith and local serviceman, Marine Cpl. Zachary Reiff, who died serving their country. Volunteers leveled the lot in 2013 and began construction in 2014. Service markers and flagpoles were added in 2016. A central monument, topped with a 6' bronze eagle, was completed in 2017. Four "Memory Walls", holding engraved stones honoring local veterans were also added in 2017 through 2020. The park entrance and walkway lighting were added in 2019. Through donor support, park development continues.
