The Jackson County Civil Service Commission will administer physical fitness and
written exams on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. with testing beginning promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Driver’s License is required to be presented on the day of testing.
Please bring appropriate clothing/footwear for all aspects of the process including
weather related considerations.
Physical agility testing location will be the Maquoketa Highschool Track and Field, 600 Washington Street, Maquoketa, IA 52060. NOTE: the Track is to south of the high school, candidates will need to drive around to the back side of the high school and out-lying buildings (or enter from S. 5th Street).
Applicants that successfully complete the physical fitness tests will then take the written exam, which is given immediately following the physical fitness test. Location of written testing will be provided to those successfully completing the physical fitness testing.
- Testing will be required of all non-ILEA certified candidates. Online application required to be submitted by the end of the day Monday, April 14, 2025 to accommodate ordering of testing materials. Physical fitness test waiver will be required prior to testing and will be provided accordingly upon receipt of application.
- Iowa Certified Officers in good standing (with no more than a current six-month break in service) will not be required to take the physical agility testing or the written examination (P.O.S.T.). Online application period will remain open through April 25, 2025
Online application is required of all people interested in being considered for a Deputy Sheriff
position regardless of testing requirements.
