Jackson County offers full-time, and part-time employees who are scheduled to work 20 hours a week or more, a health insurance plan administered by Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Health Insurance - Partial Self-Funding

Enrolling/Making Changes

Employees have 30 days from their date of hire or 30 days from the date of a qualifying life event to make changes to their dental insurance policies.

Qualifying Life Events

If you experience a qualifying life event, you must notify Human Resources at 563-652-1710 to make changes to your dental policy within 30 days of the event. Qualifying events include, but are not limited to:

  • Change in your marital status (marriage, divorce, or legal separation)
  • Addition of a dependent (birth or adoption of a child)
  • Death of a covered dependent
  • Loss or gain of eligibility for insurance coverage for you or a covered dependent

If you miss the 30-day deadline, no changes can be made unless you have another qualifying life event or during open enrollment.

Open Enrollment

Jackson County offers an Open Enrollment period in May every year to review employee benefits. Any changes or updates made during Open Enrollment will be effective July 1st that year.
